«Mosaic House: Combining smaller individual pieces to create a harmonious overall picture»

Our listed building was a revolution when it was raised in the style of functionalism in 1934. This style of architecture did without any 19th-century ornaments and brought the purpose and function of the building to the fore. This minimalism catches the eye – especially in Prague with its ornate architecture.

The original trade union building housed a large theatre hall on the ground floor of its courtyard building, where the workforce was entertained and educated. The former offices of the union are now hotel rooms.

A cinema and, later, a bank were among the tenants of the building rich in history, until the first Mosaic House hotel was built in 2010. Countless backpackers and visitors from all over the world have stayed here.

2020 marked another major milestone: we have decided to comprehensively modernise and rebuild the hotel. As much as we like to keep up with the times, we feel committed to the heritage of the building. It was important to us to preserve the original mosaics in it from the trade union era and to showcase them discreetly with appropriate lighting.
