Christmas Markets - Until January 8, 2011
Christmas markets light up Prague and give it that winter wonderland feeling. The main markets are in the Old Town and Wenceslas Square where you can get a cup of hot wine or medovina to make that cold stroll bearable, all the while admiring the handcrafted wooden toys, ceramics, jewellery, and Christmas tree ornaments. The markets aren‘t just about shopping though. There‘s also traditional food on offer - particularly pastries (try a trdelnik) and in the Old Town Square children can pet sheep, goats, and even a donkey. If you’d like to escape the crowds, try the smaller and more intimate markets on namesti Miru, on the A underground line.
Ice Rink at Ovocny Trh - Until January 31, 2012
Had enough of shopping? Then take advantage of the traditional treat - a free outdoor ice rink at Ovocny Trh, just behind the Estates Theatre in the city center. Don’t worry if you forgot to pack your skates - you can rent them on the spot for 50 CZK.
Rihanna - December 7, 2011
Rihanna finally makes her way to Prague on The Loud Tour. The Barbadian Pop star has been in the music industry since the age of 16 and has become one of the best selling artists of all time. Her very first show in Prague at the O2 Arena is, no doubt, going to be big and spectacular. Get your tickets through Sazka Ticket - prices start at 990 CZK.
Leningrad Cowboys - December 10, 2011
This Finnish band is famous for fun rock’n’roll covers, wearing exaggerated hairstyles and costumes, and generally for turning their shows into great parties. Their concert in Prague at KC Vltavska is expected to deliver on all fronts. Tickets are 600 CZK and are available through Ticketpro.
Ping Ping - December 13, 2011
The Austrian, Electro Indie duo Ping Ping return to Prague after their succesful show at this year’s United Islands festival. Their first two singles gained critical acclaim and radio coverage - not only in Europe but in the States. Their first full Prague show will be at Lucerna Music Bar on December 13, tickets are 275 CZK and are available through Ticketpro.
