Rock for People – July 3 to 6, 2012
If you're feeling adventurous, get a train or bus to Hradec Kralov, just outside of Prague, and head to the popular music festival, Rock for People. It started in 1995 and has brought some big names to play so far. This year is no exception with the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Faith No More, The Kooks and The Prodigy. Tickets are 1600 CZK in presale and are available through rockforpeople.cz.
Bruce Springsteen – July 11, 2012
The Boss and his E Street Band will play their only Central and Eastern European venue of their tour here in Prague, at the Synottip Arena on July 11. It seems like Bruce doesn't get old and his shows still run for three hours or more, so it will be money well spent. Tickets start at 1100 CZK and are available through Ticketpro.
Mystic Sk8 Cup 2012 – July 13 to 15, 2012
Mystic Sk8 Cup celebrates its 18th anniversary in style. Not only will you see the best pro riders from all over the world compete in the best skate park in Prague on Stvanice Island, you'll also see some great live bands. Enjoy the Relax and Party Zone with a bars and restaurants too. A three-day pass is 550 CZK but you can also get one-day passes through Ticketpro.
Black Lips – July 19, 2012
There's nothing wrong with some rock'n'roll mixed in with hipster moustaches, skinny jeans and punk stage manners. The last Black Lips show in Prague was four-years ago and they‘re finally returning this summer to storm a bigger venue. See them at MeetFactory for 395 CZK. Tickets are available through Ticketpro.
Ameropa – July 22 to August 5, 2012
Here's a reason to put on your fancy white shirt if you need one. Instrumentalists of all abilities will come together to play the piano, strings, brass and more at Prague's annual festival of chamber music, dating back to 1994. The event has presented concerts in some of Prague's most beautiful venues, including Rudolfinum Concert Hall. (w) www.ameropa.org
Prague Folklore Days – July 26 to 29, 2012
Prague Folklore Days brings a bit of culture to the mix. If you‘re in Prague for the end of the month and find yourself walking though the Old Town, you'll be lucky enough to run into amateur folklore ensembles from around the world. Expect marching bands, flag wavers, majorettes and carnival groups. The festival is in its sixth year and is now the biggest folk event in central Europe.
