Early Music Festival – July 22 to August 8, 2010

The Early Music Festival fits this description perfectly and is a must for music lovers. In its 11th year, musicians from all over Europe will play at some exceptional and beautiful venues, including the Troja Chateau, the Brevnov Monastery and the Hvezda Summer Pavillion. Mystic Sk8 Cup – July 2 to July 4, 2010
Here’s something for the more adventurous and sport oriented visitors to Prague! Mystic Sk8 Cup is part of the World Cup Skateboarding series and there‘s some good money in it for the winners - so you can imagine the contestants are going to put on a great show. There are two main contests – street and bowl, and after the finals there’ll be the popular best trick contest, when riders lose all barriers and try some extreme tricks that you wouldn’t normally see in a regular competition. The cup will be held in the best skate park in Prague - on Stvanice Island. The park is updated every year to reflect the latest trends and motivate riders to push their limits - so get your ticket or even try to qualify - if you think your skills are up to it!
Aerosmith – July 1, 2010
Don’t Miss A Thing at the Prague O2 Arena on July 1 when these rockers come to town! The band had a little holiday but they’re now supposedly feeling rested enough and Cocked, Locked and Ready to Rock on this tour. Cartier at Prague Castle – July 9 to October 17, 2010
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Or so the girls wish. If you can’t afford a buddy like that, you can at least see the best of the bunch at this exhibition. There will be over 350 exceptional jewels arriving in Prague having already been admired in New York, London, Paris and Beijing. Visitors will get an insight into the creation of some of the most beautiful pieces of the Maison Cartier’s work as well as information about their prestigious owners. Organizers advise the public to get tickets in advance. They are 325 CZK and available through Ticketpro.
Prague Folklore Days – July 29 to August 1, 2010
If you’re wondering what the Czech national costume looks like, here’s your chance to find out. Prague Folklore Days is a festival open for amateur folklore ensembles – singing and dancing to their heart’s content. Open air performances will be held in the Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square and Republic Square in the heart of Prague. There’ll also be a parade of each ensemble, through the city.
Teatrotoc – July 11 to July 13, 2010
Once again the Teatrotoc street theatre festival brings the best street artists, pantomime, jugglers, acrobats, clowns and more to town. Performers this year hail from the Czech Republic, Germany, the USA and even Australia, so head down to Kampa Park just across the river from the National Theatre and confront your fear of clowns. It’s about time!
