Prague Travel Writer - Krystina Svobodova

November has arrived in Prague and winter has already been in town for a couple of weeks. The occasional snow and early sunsets are but another reason to hide in the cosy wine cellars or go out for a dance at one of the many parties going on in Prague this month!

The Futureheads ‐ November 7, 2010

The English Indie punks return to Prague after their howling success two years ago and this time the party has the potential to be even more hardcore! The venue will be MeetFactory which is a project started by controversial Czech artist, David Cerny ‐ creator of the controversial Entropa sculpture. The venue is supposed to bring artists from all genres together, and connect them to the public ‐ creating a cultural dialogue in the process. Tickets are 389 CZK and are available through Ticketpro offices.

Cirque du Soleil ‐ November 12, 13 and 14, 2010

Cirque du Soleil decribes itself as a dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment, and it really is! This spectacular show combines circus styles from around the world and has its own unique theme, and story line. It easily draws in the audience with continuous music and amazing performers. The permanent Las Vegas show plays for 9000 people every night so there must be something special about it! There will be five Prague shows at the O2 arena, tickets start at 1290 CZK and you can grab them online ‐ through sazkaticket.cz.

Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club ‐ November 13, 2010

Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club is an 11 piece formation from Havana. Inspired by the classic 1960s Motown revue shows, they bring you the best of Cuban music in one live set. After 10‐years of being a part of the Ibrahim Ferrers Buena Vista Social Club and having received many prestigious awards, they‘re coming to Prague on November 13, 2010 to perform at the Congress Centre. Tickets start at 850 CZK and are available through Ticketpro offices.

Crystal Castles ‐ November 14, 2010

This (very) experimental electronic band from Toronto is known for their crazy and chaotic live performances, and finally they’re bringing this to Prague. Frontwoman Alice Glass likes to climb the stage rigging, stage dive and smash drum kits so it should be an entertaining gig! Catch Crystal Castles at Lucerna Music Bar on November 14, 2010. Tickets are 470 CZK and are available through Ticketpro offices.

Mean Poppa Lean ‐ November 20, 2010

Belushi’s at Mosaic House is very excited to present the Brighton based Mean Poppa Lean to the music lovers in Prague. This band is made up of six truly extraordinary guys who have the potential to be the next best thing ‐ sooner rather then later. Everything about them ‐ including their energetic stage presence, their extreme outfits and of course their ground breaking music, sets them apart from your usual band. Come along for your chance to see them for free at Belushi’s on November 20, 2010 at 20.00 ‐ before they hit the big time.

XIII Swing Music Festival ‐ November 25 and 26, 2010

If swing is your thing, then this festival brings with it not one but two great nights for your entertainment. The big act on the first night will be Ondrej Havelka and The Melody Makers ‐ one the most popular swing acts in the Czech Republic. On the second night expect to see Take 6 from the USA and more! Both events will be held in the beautiful building that is the National House of Vinohrady, tickets start at 600 CZK per person and you can buy them through Ticketpro offices.
