Prague might be recovering from the crazy New Year celebrations but it still has plenty to offer in January! Here are the highlights!

New Year's Day Fireworks - January 1, 2013

The fireworks organised by the city on January 1 have a reputation for being mind blowing. The display is timed for 6pm so that even families with children can enjoy it. Fireworks will be set off from a pontoon in the middle of the river, between Charles Bridge and Legions Bridge. The best spot to view the show from is then near Legions Bridge, by the National Theatre. Here you will then have the Prague Castle in the background. To look down over the fireworks, head over to Petrin Hill.

The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra ‐ January 12, 2013

The Glenn Miller Orchestra was originally formed by the American jazz musician Glenn Miller in 1938, arranged around a clarinet and a saxophone. The orchestra continued to perform under various leaders thourgh the years and is still touring today. Prague audiences can enjoy the night of great swing music on January 12 at the Municipal House. Tickets start at 790 CZK and are available through Tiketpro offices.

Cirqueon ‐ January 21, 2013

Cirqueon is an organization that prioritises the development and support of contemporary circus in the Czech Republic. This includes supporting new performance projects, education for professionals, libraries for all and more. Their performance at Pala Akropolis on January 21 will let you peep inside their world and see some of their amazing stunts. Tickets are 192 CZK and are available through Ticketpro.

The Slav Epic ‐ Throughout January

The Slav Epic is the masterpiece of Czech Art Nouveau painter, Alfons Mucha. It's a series of 20 huge paintings depicting the history of the Czech and Slavic peoples. The series has been on display in Moravia since 1963 and it has only just recently returned to Prague. Let yourselves be amazed for 180 CZK at the Veletrzni Palace.
