Christmas Markets ‐ until January 6, 2013
The Christmas markets are the key reason why Prague is so magical at this time of year. The main markets are located in the Old Town Square and Wencelas Square, with smaller collections of stalls in many other squares around the city. Visitors can enjoy all sorts of food and drinks, with the all time traditional favourites being hot wine and medovina (a hot alcoholic honey drink), hot sausages and roasted chestnuts. The stalls also offer traditional Czech products including wooden toys, Bohemia crystal and Christmas tree ornaments. The other popular features are the big Christmas tree and stage with performers singing Christmas carols, all in the Old Town Square.
Ice Rink at Ovocny Trh ‐ until January 31, 2013
If you've had enough of walking through the markets, try something different ‐ the free open air ice skate rink. It's conveniently located in the center, on Ovocny Trh right behind the Estates Theatre and is free of charge. We like thiskind of Christmas spirit!
